Al Khalat Introduces: Mohamed Monaiseer

Working at Studio Al Khalat,  Mohamed Monaiseer is interested in working on art work and experimentation, changing out the medium and material, spreading an atmosphere of awe and in these  simple materials to infuse them with richness and holiness...   His work may be inspired by his heritage, or from historical emancipation.

مهتم بالعمل على الفن الفقير و العمل على التجريب و التغيير من اصل الوسيط و الخام و بث حاله الرهبه والقدم فى تلك الخامات الفقيره لتصبح اكثر غنى وقداسه .. قد تنقل حاله من التراث او العتق وعبق التاريخ .. 

Al Khalat Spotlight: The Third Eye

Ongoing since May, the Third Eye theater company has been rehearsing for a performance of “Antarah Ibn Shadad”, based on the historical figure with the same name.  

The piece is directed by Mohamed Elsoury, and the company manager is Abdo Hemdan. 

As pictured here, during rehearsals, the group warms up by a fitness training.

Open Call: Looking for Artists to Paint Gate

Khalat is looking for artists who would be interested in painting, or leading a collaborative workshop, to paint the gate of Studio Al Khalat, creating any image inspired by its trademark green color scheme.  Materials will be provided.

يبحث ستوديو "الخلاط" عن فنانين مهتمين بالرسم والتشكيل, أو قيادة ورشة عمل تعاونية, وذلك لرسم البوابة الخاصة باستوديو "الخلاط", وخلق أية صورة مستوحاه من اللون الأخضر. سيتم توفير الخامات والمواد المطلوبة للفنان.

100,000 Mimes for Change Workshop 

The workshop is an event of 100 Thousand Mimes for Change festival which is the first international independent festival of MIME arts takes place in Egypt, held in cooperation with some of the most important cultural institutions.  The festival aims to increase the area of expression for mime artists to communicate their opinions and ideas in contemporary society and to participate together in the implementation of their performances in theaters or open spaces to help change the way we see the local community and the world.

انطلاقا من الأهداف المرحلية لفريق "اسمه أيه؟" المسرحي الذي يسعى لنشر فن التمثيل الصامت "المايم" ونشر عروض المسرح المستقل بصفة عامة عقدت ورشة مايم لمدة يوم واحد لتقديم الفكرة العامة والتقنيات الأساسية المميزة لفن المايم أو التمثيل الصامت، يشارك في الورشة مجموعة من الفنانين الناشئين أغلبهم من أعضاء فرق المسرح المستقل، واختتم اليوم بعرض مايم قدمه مدربي الورشة للمشاركين ولمجموعة من أطفال وسكان آرت اللوا وذلك على المسرح الملحق بستوديو الخلاط، أعقب العرض مساحة للتفاعل مع الحضور من أطفال أرض اللواء ومحاولة لتبسيط فكرة التمثيل الصامت بالنسبة لهم.

"Esmo Eih?" independent theatre company held a one day mime workshop at Studio Al Khalat among their efforts to raise awareness about mime art and independent theatre in general, the workshop introduced the general concept and basic techniques of the art of mime to a group of participants who are almost members of another independent theatre troupes, At the end of the day the workshop leaders presented a mime performance for the participants and the audiences of the neighborhood as well, especially children liked the performance and there was time for interaction with them at the end of the show.

يستضيف ستوديو الخلاط اليوم الختامي لورشة "العلاقات العائلية" وهي ورشة بحث فني وتتم بالتعاون بين الجامعة الألمانية بالقاهرة وجامعة فيرتفانجن وجامعة فرايبورج ومعهد جوته بالقاهرة و مكتب التبادل الأكاديمي الألماني بالقاهرة "داد"

يشارك بالورشة عشرة طلاب من الجامعة الألمانية بالقاهرة وعشرة طلاب من جامعة فيرتفانجن ويشرف عليها مجموعة من أساتذة الجامعة الألمانية بالقاهرة وجامعة فيرتفانجن وجامعة فرايبورج

في هذه الورشة يتم تقديم طرق واستراتيجيات مختلفة للبحث في مجال الفن والتصميم، حيث سيعمل المشاركون على تجميع المادة بأكثر من وسيط وباستخدام الفوتوغرافيا والفيديو والكتابة والصوت، مع العمل على هذا في مجموعات عمل ثنائية الجنسية من شخصين ويتم إرشادهم خلال كافة المراحل التي سيمر بها العمل حتى الوصول إلى أهداف المشروع والتي ستنعكس في العمل الفني الذي سيعرض في مدينة فرايبورج خلال شهر يوليو 2013 وفي القاهرة خلال شهر سبتمبر 2013

Studio Al Khalat hosted the end day of "Family relations" workshop, an artistic research workshop with 10 students of the GUC and 10 students of Furtwangen University (HFU)

In this workshop, student got introduced to different methods and strategies of practice based research in the field or art and design. They collected various medial transformable material using photography, video, text and sound. Working in bi-national teams of two, the students got guided through the process of information gathering, selection, structuring, analysis, contextualization and evaluation of the collected material. This intercultural and interdisciplinary approach will lead to the conceptual development and elaboration of a mixed media installation, which will be presented in Freiburg/Germany in July 2013 and at in an exhibition at the DAAD office in Cairo in September 2013.
